Project 2025

We are in the midst of an election year and ideas from each party are brewing. As we inch closer and closer to the 2024 election, it is important to remember to do your research before voting. I was recently made aware of a conservative idea called Project 2025. This menacing project name seems like something out of a dystopian novel, reads just like one too. Its main ideas plan on stripping rights that were hard won from many marginalized groups. 

On Project 2025’s page, they immediately state “It is not enough for conservatives to win elections. If we are going to rescue the country from the grip of the radical Left, we need both a governing agenda and the right people in place, ready to carry this agenda out on Day One of the next conservative Administration.” Reading this over doesn't even sound real. This sounds like a set up to something out of a political horror movie. 

While neither party is free from mistakes and downfalls, conservatives have turned to making an extreme agenda that sparks fear. I’m personally not very into politics but since my identity has become such a rousing topic, I have no choice. The conservatives behind Project 2025 have labeled some of the things the Left has done as “damage”. Yes, the Left has had some downfalls… So has the Right. Politics is a complex thing and it’s being run by people who clearly can’t think critically. It is saddening to think my country is being run by people that should probably be in a retirement home. 

There is an 180-day playbook as the 4th pillar of the project. It is a playbook of actions that will be a “playbook of actions to be taken in the first 180 days of the new Administration to bring quick relief to Americans suffering from the Left’s devastating policies” While I agree that there are many things the Left could be doing better, that goes for every party. No side is free from screwing up. They are extremely vague about what policies they’re planning on “relieving”. Elaborate and maybe I can hear you out in the slightest bit. I did more digging to see what these policies were. I found a pdf of their book. I’ll listen about actual issues… but if they mention the word “woke”, they’re out.

Ooh… Yeah, they’re out. While it is a longer document… This is still absolutely ludacris. Looking deeper into the book on Project 2025 that has been released… “Woke” isn’t the only thing that’s making them strike out, it’s clear bias and discrimination. They hate anything that they can’t understand. All of the following excerpts in quotes are from their book “Mandate for Leadership: The Conservative Promise”. I’m hoping to bring awareness to the harmful things they plan to do to our country that swears we’re moving forward. They focus on a lot of transgender based issues and that stood out to me, but that’s not all. Below I’ll be taking direct quotes from the pdf of their book that have to do with queer topics and breaking them down. 

“The next conservative President must make the institutions of American civil

society hard targets for woke culture warriors. This starts with deleting the terms sexual orientation and gender identity (“SOGI”), diversity, equity, and inclusion (“DEI”), gender, gender equality, gender equity, gender awareness, gender-sensitive, abortion, reproductive health, reproductive rights, and any other term used to deprive Americans of their First Amendment rights out of every federal rule, agency regulation, contract, grant, regulation, and piece of legislation that exists.”

It’s almost like… hate speech is hateful and harmful. Crazy thought, I know. You are not deprived because you can’t call me a slur. You are not deprived because you can’t spit on my identity. You are not deprived of anything. You want to remove these words because you’re afraid that they’ll bite back at you. We’ll start biting if our existence is erased. How you want to play this is your choice. God forbid the world tries to evolve and expand as people become more comfortable with themselves and want to be accepted. Just say you hate women and trans people at this point. 

“The noxious tenets of “critical race theory” and “gender ideology” should be

excised from curricula in every public school in the country. These theories poison our children, who are being taught on the one hand to affirm that the color of their skin fundamentally determines their identity and even their moral status while on the other they are taught to deny the very creatureliness that inheres in being human and consists in accepting the givenness of our nature as men or women. Allowing parents or physicians to “reassign” the sex of a minor is child abuse and must end. For public institutions to use taxpayer dollars to declare the superiority or inferiority of certain races, sexes, and religions is a violation of the Constitution and civil rights law and cannot be tolerated by any government anywhere in the country.”

Wow… That’s a lot to unpack. Skin color does play a huge part in identity, we are a society that is not free from prejudice and racism and that unfortunately plays into people’s lives in ways that may not be seen at first. The basis of critical race theory (CRT) is that race is a social construct and that racism is not only from prejudice and bias, but something that is wedged into legal systems and policies. While that is just scratching the surface of CRT, it’s enough to see what it’s about. The first half of this quote proves that this is needed. The Right is saying “We need to remove this because of reasons” and then stops. Just say you make racist policies and now you’re getting caught more and more. Then of course they have to bring gender ideology into this, why wouldn’t they? No minor is receiving gender affirming care… They need to do some research before they begin writing documents… How is a 17 year old boy more informed than you? That’s a story for another time. Minors are not able to get any surgeries that are gender affirming, it is not a thing that happens. Minors can get hormone blockers and that’s basically it. Hormone blockers aren’t permanent and can be reversed. There are some health risks to hormone blockers but that’s practically any medication you take, it’s a risk you take for your own comfort and health. Testosterone and estrogen are not usually pushed for minors, it is usually suggested at 18 or close to 18 (17 year olds have been prescribed these). I would hardly consider something that was done with consent and several doctors notes from therapists abuse. You know what is abuse? Threatening taking transgender kids from their parents and isolating thousands of trans people. 

“...children suffer the toxic normalization of transgenderism with drag queens and pornography invading their school libraries.”

I’m assuming the reference to “pornography” in school libraries is the book Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe. That book was not in elementary schools despite how desperately the Right wants it to be. The book was made for individuals 18+ and while it may be found in high schools, as many Stephen King books are, it would not be in an elementary school under any means. If it was in elementary schools, it was an accident. Even if this is not the book they were referring to, pinning pornography in schools on trans people is weird to say the least. On the topic of normalizing transgenderism… Transgenderism has been around as long as people have been around. A viking with female bones was buried as a man. Third genders have been recognized within many cultures. There are even B.C. examples of priests that wore feminine attire, took on female names and identified themselves as women. This is not new. This is not a fad. This is normal. These are people that you find disgusting just because they exist. 

”Rescind regulations prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status, and sex characteristics. The President should direct agencies to rescind regulations interpreting sex discrimination provisions as prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, transgender status, sex characteristics, etc.”

So we’re just… piling the homophobia and transphobia on thick. They are opening the doors for more discrimination than there already is. I don’t even need to analyze this, it speaks volumes.

There are so many more queer topics they cover, but this post is already way too longer than it should be. If I’m being frank… It’s hard to stomach this. On top of alienating queer people and planning to erase rights, they’re going against other groups that have fought for power. People that can give birth might not be able to get abortions under this project’s plans. They do not believe abortion is healthcare. Keep in mind a lot of the people behind this are cisgender men that will never give birth. Illegal immigrants will be even less safe in the US. Instead of thinking of logical ways to help immigrants become legal (like specialized schools for citizenship), they’re going to crack down even harder. This is going to set us back decades and for many… centuries. I really wish I had more positive news to report on but things have a tendency to grow dark. I want to bring awareness earlier than later and tell you to fight. Fight to bring the light back. Protest. Riot. Do what you need to do to survive. Make our ancestors proud we’re following in their footsteps. Make our voices heard.
